Located at Vanke Songshan Lake in Dongguan, next to Huawei European Town, this 390㎡ art residence connects city resources on one side and opens to the lake on the other, created by T&D Zhixing Design for an art-loving owner. Grounded in "knowledge" as reason and "action" as expression, the design lets form, light, shadow and color converse: an open living room, dining area and bar form a highly interactive social stage, saturated hues and organic curves rise from a neutral base, and the boundary between art collections and everyday objects is deliberately blurred — home becomes a living art scene to dwell in and interact with. The bedroom settles into muted Morandi tones, the study deep blue for contemplation, the children's room pure sky-lake blue. After completion it was featured on the front page of Global Design (issue 3964), selected for the "2025 China Residential Design TOP 36", and won a Gold Award in the Residential category at the 2026 French Design Awards.

When architecture begins to breathe, when art dissolves into dawn and dusk, home becomes an art scene that never falls silent.

When form, light, shadow and color converse and echo one another in depth, space is no longer a cold container but a living organism of warmth. It grows freely, resonating with the morning glow and evening haze, the drifting clouds and passing light of Songshan Lake — a flowing spatial poem.

On the shore of Songshan Lake, T&D Zhixing Design has crafted a private residence for an art-loving owner. The design reaches beyond the mere response of dwelling to become a vessel of the spirit — a place to stay, to linger and to engage with art.

Freedom: Lines Dancing with Light and Shadow

True freedom begins with the liberation of form. The living room, dining room and bar area open into one another, forming a highly interactive social hall. Light and sight travel freely; graceful curves act as living spatial signs, breaking free from the tyranny of straight lines, creating intense visual tension and guiding the body along soft, wandering trajectories.

High-saturation colors leap from the neutral base, uniting with organic forms to become striking visual anchors. The flowing sofa curves echo the ceiling, enriching the sensory layering and injecting lively wit into the static space.

Artworks are the shining footnotes of the owner's personality and taste. With their singular presence they awaken the tranquil atmosphere, adding narrative and memory to the space. The design blurs the boundary between art collection and everyday object, keeping the space sophisticated while filling it with the joy of discovery and human warmth — greatly enriching its artistic playfulness.

Art and Life, Boundlessly Coexistent

"Art should not be hung; it should be lived." — Jürgen Habermas

Natural flowering branches and art hangings are not accessories to the space. Their vitality and profound humanistic spirit are internalized as the very foundation of the space, making daily dwelling an uninterrupted aesthetic stroll.

The vibrant yellow declares the space's character in unmistakable visual language: positive, optimistic, open. It shapes a field that encourages free relaxation and warm exchange. The design liberates the space from the definition of a "function room", turning it into a spirited sanctuary that belongs to people alone.

Thoreau wrote in Walden: "If one can carve out an atmosphere, sketch out a way, through which we may examine and practice — that is the highest art."

The structural artistry of furniture performs a symphony of strength and beauty — rational tectonics supporting the lyrical rhythm of life. Elegant lines converse silently with the interior, giving the field a unique soul and narrative, elevating the home into a flowing art gallery that can be touched and experienced, letting life bloom with poetry through the immersion of art.

Light: The Artist Who Weaves Life Itself

"Memories of home are often colored. It is a familiar glimmer — the warm tone of a particular moment of light falling on a particular wall."

The charm of light and material diffuses a tipsy glow over the minimalist backdrop, like the gentle evening glow that greets you home, dissolving fatigue and clamor into a hazy warmth. The temperature and intensity of light are the precise palette of spatial emotion — awakening the vitality of materials and stirring the resident's heart. In this quiet theater steeped in poetry, every ordinary moment meets beauty and emotion unexpectedly.

A true artistic life lets reading, appreciating paintings and meditation become natural scenes within the space. Art sculpture anchors visual and spiritual focus — infusing life with a growing posture, shaping quiet contemplation with silent language, connecting the environment with the rhythm of breath, deepening the aesthetic depth of home and gathering its shared coordinates of memory.

Weaving a Philosophy of Stillness with Color

The bedrooms adopt Morandi tones, settling the vitality of nature into quiet poetry through low-saturation grays — like a forest shrouded in mist outside the window. Walls, fabrics and light carry a gentle greenness; in subtle gradations, a serene and healing atmosphere grants rest and return.

The master suite precisely answers the modern pursuit of quality, privacy and ceremony. The sleeping area, walk-in closet, private reading corner and en-suite bathroom flow into one complete private realm. Translucent materials extend vision without boundary, establishing a pure, fresh tone. Wherever the eye lands, clarity abounds; the mind is cleansed and naturally glides into a serene, weightless prelude to sleep.

Deep blue is the spiritual ground of the study — like the deep sea of thought and the night sky of wisdom, fusing rational power with quiet temperament. It is a place for reading, and a spiritual vessel for artistic life. People, light and artworks perform a dramatic visual poem together on this quiet stage.

Color is not merely visual presentation — it is the healing of emotion. The children's room uses pure sky-lake blue as its keynote, returning the bedroom to a purest sanctuary. Like a pristine alpine lake untouched by dust, the space gently shuts out the clamor and restlessness of the outside world, carrying the growth of the child with the power of stillness.

True luxury is letting art become the frequency of breath and letting aesthetics grow into the texture of life. Home is not a backdrop to life — it is art itself. T&D Zhixing Design paints with light and shadow, unrolls the space as a canvas, filling it with art and color, emotion and love. A home with emotion and love is truly a home.
